You asked for this show, ladies, and you got it…
We’re all still a little confused about Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), right? First it was great for us, then it was potentially dangerous, then it was back in favor—if dispensed the “right” way.
On this episode of the More Beautiful Podcast, Bay Area OB-GYN Dr. Carolyn Mannon is in the house, and she’s filling us in on everything we need to know about HRT—which, incidentally, is now being rebranded as Menopausal Hormone Therapy.
You will appreciate Dr. Mannon’s calm, reassuring voice and her comprehensive answers to all your questions, including:
- Who are the best candidates for HRT?
- When should you start and how long should you be treated?
- What symptoms does it address, and what forms is it available in?
- How does HRT even work in your body?
- What’s the difference between bioidentical hormones and synthetic varieties?
- Which women are most at risk for hormone-related depression and anxiety, and can HRT help with these issues?
- Why do doctors receive very little training in this area?
- Is there a light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to those annoying symptoms?
Whether you’re smack in the middle of this transition, haven’t yet approached it, or have come out the other side, there’s something in this episode for you.

She enjoys counseling women about family planning and contraceptive choices, and has a special interest in gynecologic care for breast cancer patients, whose treatments greatly affect their health.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Mannon is a mother of three boys and loves spending time with her family. She enjoys traveling, listening to music and being outdoors.
